I know how you feel! As a Chinese Medicine Practitioner I have thought the same thing on combining the 5 ingredients themselves and have even found the article you may have read. I don’t think it is impossible to create a combination like Protandim. On the other hand I think that the chances of this are quite unique and we have to consider a few factors.
Dr. McCord is the last recipient of the Elliot Cresson Medal for his co-discovery of Superoxide dismutase or SOD. The measurement of this “survival gene” this antioxidant enzyme is done in McCord units. This medal they only give to inventors who are going to have an impact on all of humanity.

Dr. McCord lives in Denver actually and has done over 40 years of research into antioxidants. You may have heard of taking antioxidants to reduce oxidative stress. These direct antioxidants have a 1:1 ratio and can only consume the free radicals after the damage is done inside the cell. SOD has the ability as to gobble up 1 million free radicals per second and not be consumed in the chemical reaction. It tells your cells through Nrf2 activation to all make chemicals like you had before you were 20.
He explains that taking one of the 5 herbs alone will provide a 1-3% use. When you combine the Tumeric, Ashwagandha, Bacopa, Green tea and Milk Thistle together it combines and forms a synergy that enhances the herbs 1800 times. This may give you more Protandim Questions.

My father owns a health food store and I was amazed to look for any products he carries with patents on herbal ratios. I could not find pubmed.gov studies from the national institute of health. One thing that was so curious to me was why the American Heart Association had spent 11.5 million dollars to study Protandim. A proprietary blend of herbs??? Why not do what your suggesting and formulate the herbs on their own? They chose to spend their own money and several years to study Protandim with very positive results.
I don’t like how to get Protandim.

I am a products oriented person and have had some great testimonials with my patients so that’s where I get excited.
